Bedroom Lighting

The bedroom lighting is very important for a person because the right lighting will allow you to be relaxed and get a great night sleep. But that same lighting also has to allow you to have enough lighting in order to get dressed in the morning. The most important light in the room would be the light by your bed on your nightstand because you can use this light to read at night or watch television. Apartment-Ideas has some great ideas on how to get the perfect lighting in your room for any ocassion.
When installing light in the bedroom try to install a dimmer light switch to create an atmosphere with a simple switch of the light. Try and install fluorescent light strips in the closet so that when you open the door you have instant lights. Make sure that the lamp shades you purchase are white on the interior and darker on the exterior this way the light can give off warmer tones. And a major tip to live by is to make sure you don’t light candles in the bedroom unless you make sure to check that they are out before falling asleep.
Your bedroom is your sanctuary, so make sure that you feel comfortable in it. It is supposed to be a place of relaxation and solitude, so try and use some of these steps to enhance the atmosphere of your dwelling in the Park at Hurstbourne apartments.

Moving Back

This economic situation that we are in is making it very difficult for new graduates to find a job and move away from home. A lot of graduates are resorting to having to move back home with their parents. This isn’t the most ideal solution for both parties, but it doesn’t have to be all bad. Parents and kids alike just have to sit down and set some ground rules before the lines get blurred.
By stevendepolo
First of all parents need to talk with their child and decide on a deadline for when their child needs to secure a job. It is hard out there, but nothing comes easy to those who don’t put forth the effort. Secondly parents need to decide what amount their kids need to contribute to the household expenses. It might be hard at first but they will get used to it. Next remember not to be too overbearing and don’t over-parent. They have moved back as adults so let them act like it. Make sure you don’t go behind them to pick up the pieces. Then you need to make sure to set some ground rules for the house. Maybe nothing like a curfew but other things that might come. Just remember to be open-minded if they want to negotiate along the way. And finally make sure to show respect to one another.
No matter how you look at it the situation of a child moving back home is both a little out of the ordinary and a blessing in disguise.

There are so many things I would do if I was given an enormous amount of money. But people don’t just give away money that easily. Say someone gave you 10,000 dollars, what would you chose to do with it? Take our poll!

Oh Now I Remember!

Are you one of those people who are always scribbling notes on random sheets of paper so that you will remember to do something? “Get Milk, call grandma, deposit checks, pay cable bill”. Do you find that you write something down because it is SUPER important, but then misplace the scrap paper? I do… all the time!
I’ve had so many trinkets to help me to remember things. A Covey planner, a Julie Morgenstern planner, an organizer from the Container Store and any other gadet that I thought could help me find my keys, purse, or shoes quicker. After many misplaced reminders, I decided to do things a just little differently. I keep a small notebook with me at all times and I have found this to be really effective for me. Throughout the day, I write down ideas, reminders, phone numbers, and anything else I need to know in my notebook. Then each evening I take a look through what I have written and put my thoughts into the right places. It has helped me to remember many a special occasion and bill payment!
Do you have a special way of remembering?

Kitchen Clutter Cleaned Up

Decluttering your kitchen is a tasking as tackling your closet. But if you’ve been in your apartment awhile, it’s probably time to go through those old pots and pans, especially the ones that have lost their handles and tops and whatever else, toss them and get new cookware. But getting new cookware is only the beginning. Having organized drawers, shelves and countertops is important as well. Casasugar has some suggestions for cleaning the clutter out of your kitchen.
5 Ways to Declutter Your Kitchen
Time to Hang It Up
Short on cabinet space? Pop one of Range Kleen’s Stainless Steel Oval Hanging Pot Racks ($64.96) in the ceiling for quick and pretty storage solution.
Unusual Uses For Apothecary Jars
If your cereal boxes are on display, move them into these charming Pier 1 Glass Apothecary Jars ($35-45)
Clean Up With a Docking Station
Grocery lists, phone chargers, pencils, and other knickknacks clutter up the counter. Keep all your ducks in a row with Ballard Design’s Charging Station ($99).
Hook a Sister Up
Don’t have a place to stash all of your tea and spices? Give your home café appeal with Pottery Barn’s Utility Shelf With Hooks ($79). It will help create a small vignette for typically boring pantry items while making them easy to access.
Pulling Out All the Stops
Instead of stacking dishes, cups, or pots under the counters and causing an avalanche every time you cook, organize the bunch with Rockler’s 4-Tier Pullout Shelf ($159.99).

Picking Up the Poo
April 1, 2010 by sgipson

The war on dog poo never ends. Especially when the weather is warm, it appears in the most unsightly places. Because we are a community it is important to respect the communal space and pick up after you dog. If only they were like cats and could go in a litter box, that would be great! But since they aren’t, we have to pick up after them. The Park at Hurstbourne has installed “dog poo stations” throughout the community that have bags for waste removal. But if you and your pooch find yourselves in between one of the stations, What to Do with Doggy Doo has a couple of suggestions:
Bring your own bag - Make sure that the bag is big enough for the poop. Just because your dog is small doesn’t mean that the poo will be. Make sure that the bag doesn’t have any holes and preferably use an oblong one like a loaf of bread bag or a newspaper bag. Apparently, these are easier to manage. Once you have your bag you should:
- Pull the plastic bag over one hand like a glove.
- Pick up the poop with your bagged hand.
- With your other hand, grasp the open end of the bag and pull it inside out.
- Knot the bag and put it in the nearest trash can.
Get a Pooper Scooper – not as manageable as a bag, but if you can’t bear to touch your canine’s feces, the pooper scooper is the way to go.
Remember, being courtesy to you neighbors makes the community better. Besides, if you don’t want to be called out by the staff or get a fine, the poop must be scooped!

Roll It Up!

Every year, I order magazines from my friend’s children. I can’t help it. I love supporting their causes but I’m being taken over by magazine subscriptions. I have three magazine racks that are overflowing. But Real Simple may have a solution to my problems. Use an empty wine rack. Real Simple suggests:
“Roll up your pile of to-be-read glossies and slip them in the slots.”
Genius! Not only does it provide storage but the magazines look neater rolled up instead of flat in the magazine rack.

Decorating with America’s Horror King

Stephen King, one of America’s classic novelist, scares the crap out of me. So much so that I haven’t read any of his books and I’ve only watched his movies with other people, never alone. Even the edited versions on tv give me the willies. One of the more memorable movies was “Carrie”. The moment when that blood was poured all over her and she shut the gymnasium down from just using her mind. I promise, if I had the power of psychokinesis, I would use my power for good, not evil. Artist Nick Tassone has managed to turn the scary into the not-so-much scary with his intrepretation of some Stephen King movies in a set of prints. Featuring Carrie, Misery, Pet Semetary and The Shining, this is an impressive way of decorating your apartment and paying homage to the Horror King.
